Knowing what exactly is personalized postcard printing is extremely important before you jump to the bandwagon of doing postcard printing and use it as marketing tool. Actually, there are 4 aspects of printing postcards and these include the size, paper stock, design file formats as well as coatings. Every aspect plays an important role to ensure that you are only getting high quality.
The postcard’s size doesn’t always mean that there is a standard size that fits all postcard sizes. It’s because of the fact that there are varying sizes that need a different piece of printing equipment. You might not believe it but just a minute modification on the size of your postcard is enough to have a change of pricing. Before you print the postcards, it will be a good idea if you are going to get some quotations from the printing company first. By doing so, it will show you figures that you need to settle for the postcards.
There are basically a couple of aspects for paper stock that you must be mindful about and these can be matte or glossy. It is ideal if you are going to use CS2 and C1S stock if you want to print full color on your personalized postcards.
In C1S stock, one side of it is glossy and one side is matte while when you are using a CS2 stock, both sides have been given a glossy finish. Between these stocks, it is the C1S that was mostly used since the ink in postcard printing doesn’t dry up on the gloss part of the paper stock and for that, they lead in printing on matte side of stock.
Asking for the file format being accepted by the printing company is something you should not disregard when talking about design file formats. Despite the fact that there are some printing companies that are accepting different file formats, still there are some that are using limited types of file format and software for their design creation. What such companies do is converting personalized postcard design file in a format that’s accepted by the printing equipment.
Finishing is as important as the first couple of steps mentioned for postcard printing. There are two kinds of postcard coating or finishing and these are aqueous coating and UV coating. The latter option will provide you with a shiny feel and look on your postcard.
On the other hand, with Aqueous coating, it provides minimal shine or gloss and entails quick printing process for postcard. Aqueous coating isn’t hindering continuous printing process primarily because of the reason that it dries fast.
